Biocarburanti e petrolio alle stelle. Volano i prezzi degli alimenti di base. E negli Stati più poveri del mondo torna l'emergenza cibo. Viaggio nella regione indiana che ha il record mondiale di bimbi morti per stentisembra essere diventato un vero problema, visto che il numero dei newyorkesi che "soffrono la fame" è cresciuto del 24% in un anno, da quando cioè il prezzo dei beni elementari (pane, uova e latte) è schizzato in alto.
